Dr. Maria Chuquer, MD FRCPC

Dr. Maria Chuquer is an Anesthesiologist with over 13 years of clinical practice in her specialty. She has been a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Canada in Anesthesiology since 2018 and has obtained advanced certifications in Headache Medicine, Medical Aesthetics, Cosmetic Dermatology and Obesity Medicine.

In the academic field, Dr. Chuquer is an Assistant Professor at the University of Calgary Cumming School of Medicine as well as a Faculty Member of the Canadian Association of Medical Aesthetics (CAMA).

Dr. Maria is the Founder of Aurea Medical as well as Xthetics Face & Body Sculpt, a fast growing physican-led luxury medical spa in Calgary. In her spare time, she is an avid tennis player and coach, drummer and mother of 3.

Dr. Michael Tam MBBS CCFP

Dr Michael Tam was born and raised here in Calgary, AB. He received his Bachelor of Science from the University of Calgary then moved to Australia to complete his Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) at the University of Queensland.

He completed his residency in family medicine in South Australia before returning to Alberta in 2018. He has worked in Oyen (Rural) Alberta for the last 3 years (2019 – 2022) as a family and emergency physician. He has recently relocated back to Calgary and is excited to build healthy relationships and be a part of his patients health journey. His special interests are migraine and MSK treatments.

Outside of work he enjoys going out for coffee, sports, traveling and spending time with his family.

Barbara Maduck

I enjoyed a career as a nurse in critical care units for 16 years. The majority of my nursing was spent on the Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgical Unit with additional experience in ICU, Orthopedics, and the Burn Unit.

Following my nursing career, I established my own business as a Medical Exercise & Nutritional Specialist for 25 years. Within my facility I met the needs of individuals with disease orientation, orthopedic issues, weight loss interferences, and clients who needed pharmaceutical support.

My services were also sought out by medical doctors and physiotherapists. I had the opportunity to work as a physiotherapist assistant for 4 years in charge of back-to-work evaluations and programming.

I continue to be actively involved in ‘changing people’s lives’. I’ve recently surpassed coaching over 6,000 fitness classes to individuals with a wide range of goals and fitness levels.

I am passionate about supporting all individuals with my expertise and life experiences!

Dr. Ayesha Nazarali BSc MD CCFP

Dr. Ayesha Nazarali is a family physician with a focused interest in migraine and headache disorders. She offers evidence-based care for patients with chronic migraine, including therapeutic Botox injections as part of a comprehensive treatment plan.

With a background in primary care, Dr. Nazarali takes a whole-person approach to managing chronic migraines, ensuring that each patient’s individual needs are met with empathy and expertise.

Outside of her clinical practice, Dr. Nazarali enjoys staying active through sports and is always looking forward to her next travel adventure. She believes that balance and joy are key to overall wellness.

Dr. Lynn Peterson BSc MD CCFP

Dr. Lynn Peterson is a family doctor with a special interest in minor office procedures including lumps and bumps, contraception, and specifically migraine care here at Action Health. You might also see her in urgent care, but hopefully that’s not where you meet!

Outside of work, she enjoys a full and active life with her husband and kids. She loves being outdoors, staying active, sings in a choir, and delights in unwinding with a good coffee and audiobook. She was born and raised in Calgary, and loves being close to the mountains and her family.

At Action Health she is accepting referrals for migraine / headache management including medication assessment, adjustment, and treatment with BOTOX PRE-EMPT Protocol.

Dr. Safia Nazarali is a Royal College–certified anesthesiologist who completed her training at the University of Toronto.

Jennifer Kha, RD BSc

Jen is a graduate of the University of Alberta where she received a BSc in Nutrition and Food Science. She has a passion for empowering individuals to take charge of their health by making lifestyle changes that are meaningful, practical and sustainable to support their personal health and wellness goals.

Jen’s career in nutrition began in the hospital setting as a Nutrition Support Specialist, where she developed a strong foundation in clinical care and evidence-based practice. Over the past 15 years, Jen has provided patient-centered care in the primary care setting, working as both a Registered Dietitian and Clinical Educator.

Jen has a special interest in the areas of women’s health, diabetes, cardiovascular health, mental health and relationship to food and body. Her approach is weight-inclusive and health-focused, emphasizing individualized care over one-size-fits-all solutions. Jen acknowledges that everybody is different and honors each person’s unique goals, preferences, and lived experiences. She believes in supporting health from a whole-person perspective—recognizing the physical, emotional, and social aspects of well-being and that food serves not only to nourish the body but nourishes the mind and soul as well.

Outside of work, she enjoys spending time outdoors with her husband, taking walks, going on bike rides, and playing tennis and pickleball. Jen is also a foodie at heart and loves to try new recipes, restaurants and cuisines.

Dr. Pauwlina Cyca PhC MD CCFP

Dr. Pauwlina Cyca is a family physician with special interest in general practice oncology, peri-menopause and menopause health, migraine management, and metabolic longevity medicine. During her training she served as Lead (Chief) Resident, and the President of the Provincial Association of Resident Physicians of Alberta (PARA).

She also served as representative for Stabilizing Comprehensive Primary Care in Alberta – Task Force with the Alberta Medical Association and Alberta Health.

Her concurrent career as a Pharmacist, provided her with experience as the President Elect of the New Brunswick College of Pharmacists, The Maritime delegate on the National Association of Pharmacy Regulatory Authorities, as an Industry Lead on the Alberta Pharmacists’ Association Leadership Cohort, the Senior Advisor of Pharmacy Services for Pharmacy Brands Canada, and the Director of Governance on the founding board for the Canadian Premature Babies Foundation.

Dr. Cyca’s earlier graduate level training and health careers focused on athletic training timed around individual hormonal perturbations to enhance female athletic performance. She also spent 15 years as a practicing pharmacist in hospital, community, industry, continuing care and specialty medicine.

Pauwlina is a proud mother to 3 young children. After moving to Calgary, health and wellness of her young family became an increased focus. Pauwlina, her husband, and three children all train for and race in triathlons as a family exercise hobby. “It gives us a family goal, and keeps us focused on good nutrition and healthy exercise. It provides a tangible way to tackle adversity and discomfort on purpose”.
